Flight School 9: Rapid Descent & Thermals

OK, you were showing off.  Now your quadcopter is uncomfortably high.  To make matters worse, you expect that your battery might be running dangerously low!  Here is a technique to quickly and safely bring your quadcopter back to the ground. Thermals are also discussed, along with techniques to detect and escape from this rapidly rising air.

    3. SymaX8C is a great quad for beginners and the camera can be easily removed just by sliding it towards the rear of the quad and unplugging the cable. I have it and I´m happy with that! / Scott @ http://jscharter.com

  4. As far as the SYMA I started out with the X5. I winged it and just went to it . It ended up flying away. Read the manual first. Watch videos like these before venturing out again with a new one.

  5. Mr. 101, thanks for all the stuff you do to help those like me. Need your advice. Ordered quad from GEARBEST on July 17. It was DOA, would not bind. After many emails back and forth, still they have done NOTHING to make things right. What can I do?

  6. That is so cool how you can attach a camera to the quadcopter. My son has been asking me to get him one for his birthday. After watching your video I think I might have to get one for myself too. http://www.superiorhobbies.com/reach/index.html

  7. Thanks for this post! I also have that fear - my battery dying. In the past I've always tried to keep an extra battery pack with me when I'm flying my quadcopter, but I still feel really nervous sometimes. I really learned a lot from your video about technique though. I'll have to try them and see if it will ease my anxiety a little bit.

  11. Hi, I have both the Syma X5c and the Syma x5SW. My first initial smyx x5c-1 flew off in a thermal last fall. I wish I had watched you thermals video before that warm fall day. I never did find it.
Now for my questions, after rplacing a motor that burned out afte rin in door collison, I ws up and flying. AFter the first few flights, I discovered, that I am now missing prop screws! Are they a standard size? If so, what size? If not is there a source for just screws?

  15. This is maybe the most popular drone. For 50$ you can get a really good drone. Nice video!
